2007 was another succesful event. There were over 290 participants; 210 5k and 80 2k. We raised $4,700 for the MCC Relief Sale which will provide significant help to those in need. Thanks for all who participated.
Registration on Friday night was heavier than last year and very fun. We very much support early registration and Friday night is a great opportunity to meet other runners. There was a fire within the fairgrounds early Saturday morning. While this did not affect our route, we did start Saturday registrations in the dark without electricity and with flashlights. Otherwise the event went smoothly.
This was our second year organizing this event and we received a lot of feedback. Participants are very committed to this race as part of the overall MCC Relief Sale, and we appreciate so much support and praise in continuing this race. Some points to look forward to in 2008. While I believe we have the most accurate route yet, I did not paint the mile markers as was done in earlier years. One long term runner will be measuring the route with me and insuring we have a consistent and accurate route. Also, the biggest challenge was the ending shoot. I apologize for being inexperienced in this. The shoot was way too short and wide causing some times to be out of order. Other participants helped design a new ending shoot which we will try next year. With those two corrections this race should increase the enjoyment to all who participated.
